Adobe's organic vineyards The winery made from adobe bricks of mud and straw Winemaker Alvaro Espinoza
|
DescriptionDeep colour with expressive nose of summer fruits and black cherries. This medium-bodied wine has quite a dense structure and more tannin and acidity than perhaps you'd expect. In conclusion quite a chunky Merlot which will go very well with sausages, barbecued meats and cheese. More informationAdobe is a range of wines produced by Viñedos Orgánicos Emiliana, one of the sole producers in Chile to use biodynamic practices.
In fact it was Alvaro Espinoza who was the first to introduce biodynamics to South America and he is viewed as something of a pioneer. He aims to increase biodiversity in the vineyard by planting cover crops, leaving corridors between vine blocks for plants and wild flowers to grow.
This also has the effect of attracting the pests away from the vines. The gravity-fed winery is made from natural materials, including 'adobe' a traditional brick made from mud and straw.
