DescriptionDry Chenin Blanc, crisp and appley, yet ripe with aromas of cut hay. Almost dances on the palate. This is the best Fairtrade white wine I have tasted. Lovely length of flavour too. More informationTwo hours' drive from Cape Town, Citrusdal is in the centre of the Goue Vallei or Golden Valley and is home to a cooperative winery with around 80 members. Charles Back of Fairview (and the cheeky Goats do Roam label) has bought into the cooperative and much of it is now Fairtrade.
The unique terrain, high altitude and dry land production and harvesting methods have maximized quality. In addition, grapes are hand-picked in small crates and in many cases kept in cold storage before pressing, to capture maximum flavor. The cellar was redesigned to separate produce received from different regions, enabling winemakers to create very unique blends.
