Harvest-time Bottling at the winery Autumn in the vineyard
|
DescriptionMedium-bodied, easy-drinking claret with juicy, clean, pure red fruits and smooth tannins. Very versatile and will accompany casserole, grilled and roasted meats and all manner of cheeses. More informationOwned by Francis and Bernadette Joubert, this 27 hectare vineyard on the borders of Blaye and Charente, is mainly planted to red grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Established back in 1976 the estate became certified organic in 1987. It has been quite some time now and this experience shows through in the clean-tasting purity of the fruit.
Their aim is to respect Nature using a combination of modern techniques and the know-how passed down over hundreds of years.
The soil is gravel, sand and clay with an iron rich subsoil which aids good maturity. The soil is ploughed and no chemicals are used at all in order to encourage microbial life, aeration and water penetration. Organic compost is made on the estate.
The grapes are picked by hand and by machine and vinified parcel by parcel in small vats.
