DescriptionA crisp, intensely fruity blend of 66% Sauvignon Blanc, 24% Semillon, 8% Chardonnay and 2% Verdelho bottled with a screwcap to keep it fresh and aromatic. Refreshing, with hints of lemon and lime on the bouquet and an elderflower character on the palate, this is full-bodied but the zestiness keeps it from becoming heavy. Lovely length too. Ideal apéritif wine. Highly recommended. More informationVanya Cullen has been awarded Drinks Business Woman of the Year - read about the award on our blog of 4th June 08
As ethical wines go, this has to be pretty much at the top of the tree as it is certified biodynamic and organic AND carbon neutral! Plus, to top it all, the wines are excellent quality, so big ticks all round.
What does it mean to be carbon neutral? Well, Cullen vineyards pay a premium to purchase electricity from renewable resources and they also compensate for all winery CO2 emissions from use of fossil fuels through funding planting of trees in the wheat belt of Western Australia.
More importantly though in terms of quality is their biodynamic practice in the vineyard and the winery. Nurturing soil fertility, understanding nature's rhythms and intervening as little as possible in the winery, the concentration in their wines sings through. Using wild yeasts, no additions, minimal oak and finings, this is natural wine at its finest.
