Description

A well-balanced, aromatic and complex wine made from the pressed juice of Reichensteiner and Schonburger grapes which have been fermented in stainless steel vats at just at just 13°C to retain fruit aromas and delicate flavours. Perfect match for Cornish seafood. The name celebrates the Atlantic Ocean lapping Cornwall's shores, and the freshest fish in the world. Atlantic Dry with fish is a favourite in most Cornish restaurants.

Ex-RAF pilot, Bob Lindo, planted grapes on his family sheep farm twenty years ago down in the Camel Valley near Bodmin in Cornwall. It was a brave move which is now paying dividends as the gold medals are showering down - not just for producing top English wine, but also for producing top sparkling wine to compete with Champagne!

We visited here in May 2009 and joined in with the Grand Vineyard Tour which takes place every Wednesday evening (£7.50 per person including a tasting). Word has certainly got around about Camel Valley as there were over 50 people there. Bob took us round and we also met his son Sam, who was the UK Vineyards Winemaker of the Year in 2007.

It is a sheltered, rolling valley and the vineyard is hidden away. If you cycle the Camel Trail from Padstow to Bodmin you ride right through it.
