Chablis, Domaine de la Boissonneuse, Burgundy, France - organic wine

Jean Marc Brocard

Chablis vineyards

Description

Classic Chablis bouquet with a hint of warm bread and a lovely streak of citrus acidity that runs through the wine. It has that tingly, alive character that we have found in many biodynamic wines, a secret vibrancy that many other wines lack even if they are of very good quality. Good to drink at any time (and we love the ladybird on the label!).

More information

Situated near Auxerre, in the valley of the Serein river, Chablis is the centre of one of France's oldest wine growing regions.

Starting with a hectare of vines from his father-in-law, Emile Petit, Jean-Marc Brocard has created an estate of some 180 hectares of vineyards in Chablis and Burgundy.

That's a pretty big domaine but one thing Jean-Marc has always managed to do is concentrate on quality and terroir. He firmly believes that the quality of his wine is due to the uniqueness of the vineyard's soil and geographical position. The grapes for all wines are grown herbicide and pesticide free and over the years have become healthier and more resistant to disease thanks to this 'natural' policy.

Jean-Marc Brocard 's son, Julien, is an advocate of biodynamic farming and in 2000 Julien took over the vinification and vineyard management of the Domaine La Boissonneuse estate. He gained Ecocert organic accreditation in 2004 and has created a healthy, biodynamic vineyard, using scrupulous methods to give life again to the soil.
