In 1939 a massive earthquake devastated the Curico Valley killing 10,000 people in just two minutes. Following this devastation, a group of farmers and workers formed the Los Robles Co-operative to help rebuild the local community. In June 2004 Vinos Los Robles were Fairtrade certified.

The Los Robles Premium Committee invests the Fairtrade premium in projects that benefit the growers and their communities which include health insurance, a new canteen and even a school bus. The Fairtrade premium generated from the sale of Los Almendros wines will directly benefit the children of Los Almendros School in Palquibudi.
