Ethical Fine Wines
tastes good, feels good

 New Wines just in...

A froggy Vouvray, Chilean trio, Rioja bandit and Noble Gewurz!

It's not all doom and gloom here at Ethical Fine Wines. Are we going to let the euro exchange rate and generally awful economic forecast get us down?

No, we are not. Positivity is what we need. And some great tasting wines of course.

My last email was about a new sparkling wine from Vouvray and this proved so popular that we have had to ship some more. I included in the shipment this time their still, dry Vouvray with some rather jaunty frogs on the label. Lovely summer wine with elegant apple and pear fruit with white flower notes. £9.95. A credit-cruncher.

Then comes a trio of Chilean Fairtrade wines from Los Almendros by Los Robles. A red from the Carmenere grape, a Sauvignon Blanc which I predict will be very popular as it's very typical crunchy New World Sauvignon, and a rose made from Merlot. All three are £6.49.

From Rioja comes this organic wine from Paternina called Banda Verde at £7.95. Now I have to be honest. It's not in the same league as the El Molino Rioja that we have at £9.95, but it's £2 cheaper and if we're tightening our belts then it's worth a look.

Last but by no means least I make no apology for going to the other extreme and buying a few cases of this gorgeous sweet nectar. It's expensive. £15.95 for 50cl. That's 32p a centilitre. But then it is a Selection de Grains Nobles Gewurztraminer from Clement Klur in Alsace (and biodynamic too) so it's pretty much like gold dust. This would be heavenly with a bowlful of English strawberries and I will be very happy to drink it on my own, so I won't mind if you don't buy any!

I have started a blog of sorts as they seem to be 'the thing to do' these days although I'm sure you've all got far better things to do than read my blog! If you do, please leave me a comment and I shall know that if I get no comments at all I may as well save my time! The last entry includes a photo of Prince Charles in his Aston Martin - now why would that be?

Best wishes
Susan McCraith, Master of Wine
