There is a wealth of information about the health benefits and risks of drinking alcohol. In summary most studies conclude that a small amount of alcohol is good for you, but we are talking small ie. a glass a day, not a bottle. Much more than that and the benefits start to turn into risks. Men can drink more than women, not just because they're bigger but they have less water in their bodies too. Just be sensible and watch out for large glasses of 15% abv wine - as you could be consuming twice as many units as you think. Excessive drinking does horrible things to your liver - we've seen the photos, they're not pretty. So please do drink responsibly. A little of what you fancy does you good they say, and if you stick with quality not quantity, you'll be on the right track.
